NORBIT, a global supplier of tailored technology solutions to carefully selected niches, brings together in-house multidisciplinary R&D and world-class manufacturing in a new business unit named Product Innovation & Realization (PIR).

PIR enables innovation and execution for NORBIT’s two other business units Oceans and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), in addition to working with external special projects and contract manufacturing.

“In recent years, we have seen good results of close collaboration between the R&D environment in Trondheim and the outstanding production process expertise in the plants at Røros and Selbu. To further exploit this collaboration, we are now gathering Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), Original Design Manufacturing of industrial electronics (ODM) and Kabelpartner into one business unit,” says Per Jørgen Weisethaunet, NORBIT Group CEO.

EMS consists of three factories at Røros (automotive), Selbu (defense, medical and subsea) and Kabelpartner (subsea and defence) in Trondheim, serving the Oceans and ITS segments and with long-term relationship to selected key contracts manufacturing clients.

ODM is responsible for R&D and total client product management in the group, and the division has a range of tailored products based on NORBIT Intellectual Property sold to long-term key clients under client brand or dual branding.

“PIR will be a business unit with deep knowledge and experience in all aspects of technology and product design, while the close cooperation between in-house R&D and our factories facilitates smooth industrialization,” says Per Jørgen Weisethaunet.
