Another BlueDeal successfully completed in the Barents Sea

Spirit Energy Norway AS chose NORBIT Aptomar’s BlueDeal Environmental monitoring service on yet another of their Barents Sea campaigns.

NORBIT Aptomar are very proud that Spirit Energy chose our BlueDeal environmental monitoring service for their Sandia drilling campaign this summer. “The successful collaboration with NORBIT Aptomar on our previous Scarecrow campaign in the Barents Sea made it a natural choice for us”, says Spirit Energy. “The BlueDeal solution enabled us to document an environmentally safe and clean operation on Sandia in accordance with the regulations and internal standards. It is very important for our company to continuously improve our environmental performance.”

Through the BlueDeal service, NORBIT Aptomar implemented a tailored remote sensing solution to document a spill-free drilling operation, identify and document present species of birds and mammals, and to make sure that the waters were ice free. The daily monitoring was handled by specially trained personnel on the standby vessels Esvagt Carpathia and Stril Polar, and the entire operation was supervised by Aptomarin 24/7 marine control center in Trondheim.

There were no oil spills or floating ice identified by the handhold infrared camera during the Sandia campaign.
